Making a meal of it

Today I discovered priceyourmeal.com (sorry they don’t sell tshirts), but they have an interesting business model. Basically its an ebay for restaurants based in Glasgow. You can bid for a meal for two or a lunchtime buffet whatever the restaurant is willing to offer. At the moment what the restaurants are offering is geared towards generic meal vouchers for two vouchers, but I think there’s real potential here for restaurants willing to be flexible. It should be possible to get cheaper meals in expensive restaurants by booking way in advance, turning up at the last minute, going during less popular times, spending less time there, eating unpopular dishes.
For me price is always too fixed. We aren’t all equal and have different time, money and experience requirements. I think the airline dynamic pricing model is the next big growth area on and offline. Online we now have the tools to link price so closely to demand that the price we charge should always reflect the current level of demand for that product. This gives greater flexibility to smart consumers willing to spend the time and put in the effort to get a good deal.

A few articles related to this 1, 2  I’ll probably write a full post or series of posts about it as well soon.

25% off sale at Fullbleed

Fullbleed Logo

I was stoked about the iso50 sale, my finger hovering nervously over the shopping cart icon in a manner usually reserved only for that of my self-destruct button. Now I can bring you even better news, another of the merchline stores I’ve featured here a few times and a personal favourite “Fullbleed” is having a sale. 25% when you buy three shirts, which is perfect as I like at least 18 of them, a number divisable by 3. Unfortunately my body is not naturally divisable by three so I can only wear one at once, but I will never need to do washing again.

ISO50 Sale

iso50 logo

I’ve posted about iso50 a few times so I’ll keep this short. I have three of their prints, and I’m a big fan of the quality and service. The also have beautiful tshirts. I love the bold colour usage of the designs. The good news (or bad for me as as I just brought three prints) is that they are having a 20% off everything sale. Shirts are now $18 and prints for $12. Go. Buy. Enjoy.

Mass Customisation

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I guess I’m not sure where to go with hiphipUK as traffic is rather stagnant and even posts like the Threadless one fail to generate much by way of discussion. I’ve also been planning on expanding out the topics I post from just the tshirt industry to my other interest areas. One of those is Mass Customisation a which was the focus of my original Threadless dissertation.
There is an excellent post on madeforone.com which summarises up the whole concept (!warning long alert!), charts its history, and attempts to tie together all the associated terms like peer production, consumer innovation, open innovation, lead users. Basically, its an excellent introduction to the whole area.

Roundup

So I havent posted for a while, its been really busy. Here is my attempt to summarise whats been happening recently:

Basically if you want to find out about cool tees Torso has it nailed. I’m loving Rubix Cubicle from Everything Burns. Its a merchline as well so you can combine with nice stuff from Owl Movement or my other favourite FullBleed

Rubix Cubicle

Threadless are now going to be printing tees on their own label, a smart move. It should give them much greater control over inventory and answer most peoples main criticism of their shirts. They are also hosting a 30 day $10 sale, current/credit accounts the world over are gasping in disgust. I’m gutted to miss out on “Watch the Snow Fall” (long sleeves as well!)

Watch the Snow Fall

Everyone in the world blogged the air tshirt thing. Why? I dont know, I guess its a quiet month in the tshirt blogosphere, looks kind of lame to me.Teetonic printed a student themed flat pack design, I’ve seen these too many times and had a skater one from Spunky for about 5 years. Still its a nice design. They also have a special comp with Scottish Sun offering a return trip to NY or (£1000) for the winner link.

Braveland are as awesome as ever (I just got a big order), interview coming next week hopefully.

I setup a global tshirt hunt over at thehunt.spreadshirt.net

We have a tshirt up a tree in London, buried in Belgium, in a supermarket in Canada, the woods in NYC, the canal in Berlin. You get the idea.
