Roundup

So i’m back in Germany now and I’ve been a little slack with posts lately, something that should hopefully change soon. I have designated this weekend “blogging weekend” when I plan to cram a months worth of blogging into a weekend. At my current blogging level thats a cool 3 posts ;)

I do blog fairly regularly on the spreadshirt blog though

From the hiphipUK inbox the following have been in touch lately:

Crookedmonkey.com - slogan based tees, but some of the nicest I’ve seen but pricey at $24. Im a fan of “don’t frown, get down” in a camp chic kind of way, but it only seems to be for girls :(

I also like no-one can like a mexican after seeing Babel and Napoleon Dynamite (for the 5th time) recently.

No-one CAN like a MexiCAN

Sideline - These guys have been on a few other tshirt blogs, having Jon Burgerman as an contributor has certainly helped. The site is also really slick. One to watch. I’ve said before the big problem with being UK based is the £ is just so uncompetitive at the moment. It must be tough for young labels to get started when your selling to EU and US at $40 a shirt (4 threadless shirts a lot of the time).

I think the best thing on the site is this range of original artworks by Rob Malpensa on boards

Bedlam Clothing - To tell me about the $6 sale, I think alot of other tshirts site have posted this already. Its slogan based tees again, but still $6! Stacks of wax is nice

Indivisual - Again my favourite item is a girls hoodie (what happening to me? soon my favourite movie will be Dirty Dancing and i’ll vote on pop idol. If I ever buy a trashy celebrity mag, someone put me out of my misery). I also like Hung Shoes

Im sure someone wrote to say they’d created a hiphipuk discount code for 10% off at their site but ive misfiled it somewhere (sorry!). Mail me again and I can feature it :)

I got to see Rushmore again over Christmas, its such a great film. Its so ridiculously quotable, which I’ll prove now by not quoting anything in this post. T-critic featured this awesome Rushmore tshirt (the best bit is the perfect attendance and punctuality badges). Its on sale for $15 at the moment over at shesmyrushmore

She's my rushmore

I suggest you mail them abuse for scrapping international shipping. Usual posts returning soon.

I don’t understand the scrapping of international shipping… ive come across sites that don’t ship to australia and it sucks… surely it ain’t that hard to organise, we’re the ones who have to pay extra and we’re obviously willing to…

I couldnt agree more. The other thing that gets me is sites that dont charge consistent pricing. Sideline sell their shirts for €40 to EU and $40 to US? $40 is €30, why the €10 increase for european dwellers?

  4. fletchy said,

oh and 24gbp to the UK, which even when you take into account the strength of the pound is only €36?

It seems strange that places would not ship internationally and charge dramatically different prices… We charge the same amount for shipping regardless of location! But if you’re out-of-country the shipping will be a little slower, but still not bad. In some ways, I like getting international orders more than domestic ones!

Joe, i totally agree - international orders somehow rocks! I always feel excited, when there is a new inter customer. A funny thing is, that our website still only exists in german language. I always apologize to the customer and asked them, if they could handle to understand the website so far. Some people did respond that they use the google translation tool… thats really cool - makes a bit proud as well…

b.t.w Adam… thanks for the nice blog. I am a frequent reader. However, it’s my first comment today :-)

Welcome Sven, and nice site! Do you have an english language version in the pipeline? Where are you based?

  8. Sven said,

    @fletchy
Yes, it’s definitely on our to-do list, as usual among tons of other points.

We’re based in stuttgart / germany. Thats the place where all these expensive cars come from ;-)

Oh, about that 10% discount code, I’m going to guess that it was from ilovewaterloo.com, and the code was probably “hiphipuk”.

  11. fletchy said,

Ah, that sounds a bit right. thanks psychic joe! I guess I wasn’t the only one to recieve a code from ilovewaterloo then? ;)

  12. Joe said,

I’ve been practicing! I’m glad my powers occasionally come in handy.
