You didn’t have to be psychic to see this coming, especially if you look how well adopted these techniques are at DBH. Be interesting to see how the designers react to the new loss of constraints. la Fraise has some of these options, but I’m not seeing them in the winning prints. I think this is because of the la Fraise style is sort of fixed and its takes some time to get your head around the new options.
From the newsletter:
“Before today, most chosen designs were printed with plastisol inks, some with a chino additive and a few with water-based or discharge inks. Starting today, designers can now use up to 8 colors, specify super glow, puff, high density, suede, UV color change, shimmer, metallic clear, glitter, blister, flock, vinyl, foils, embroidery, gradients, simulated process and even belt printing. Here’s a PDF explaining in detail each of the new capabilities.”
And my shirt pick of the week:
Music Snob by Spencer Fruhling. I love my lanyard we made for a music festival here in Leipzig which has made up music genres on it like “Speed Gospel” “Detached House” “Progressive Karaoke”.

Joe from Fantastic Blognanza wrote two nice posts of research he did for a paper on Threadless. While the results are not exactly what you’d call conclusive, they are interesting starting points for discussion.
Part 1: Can we predict from n.comments how well a design will score
Part 2: Who wins most, professional or amateur designers
If anyone has similar research I’d love to read it.

This shirt from Olly Moss (creator of loads of the best Threadless designs) called “Spolit” is one of the best shirts I’ve seen at Threadless for ages:
I hate it when people spoils things, Its one of my pet hates, but these draw heavily on only the most popular pop culture so its okay. Nine new shirts this week, check them out
Two of my other favourite shirts were reprinted:
